A Thoughtfully Designed Backyard Transformation
This backyard transformation is a great example of how thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship can turn a space into something truly special. Clean, modern lines, warm natural tones, and carefully integrated features come together to create an elevated outdoor environment — a place where the homeowner can relax in the hot tub and spend meaningful time with their grandkids.
Drainage, Site Conditions, and Inspiration
A primary focus on this project was drainage. The natural movement of water through the property helped guide the overall layout, including the placement of the pool. Rather than working against the site conditions. Access was also limited, but with the generosity of a neighboring property owner who allowed us to use their space for access, our team was able to complete the project efficiently and with great care for the surrounding area.
The home’s architecture played a big role in shaping the design direction. With its gray exterior and crisp white trim, we carried those elements into the backyard with white metal pergolas that echo the home’s detailing. The result feels international and seamless, like the outdoor space was always part of the original design of the home.
The Pergola: A Functional Focal Point
The centerpiece of the space is the pergola. Designed for comfort and function, it features a retractable shade system, automatic louvers, integrated lighting, and a privacy wall with a mounted TV. The space easily transitions from bright daytime relaxation to cozy evening vibes right at home.
Materials That Bring Warmth and Balance
Material selection was key to creating the warm, refined look of the space. Around the pool, we installed cream-colored bullnose coping for a cream, soft finished edge. This was paired with County Grand XL Discover pavers, bringing together warm tan tones.
