At Weller Brothers Landscape Professionals, we love helping homeowners transform their outdoor environments into places where memories are made. This project began with a clear vision: create a peaceful, functional, and beautifully crafted space featuring a swimming pool, a pool house, and ample room to relax and entertain. Landscape Designer Chad Kasten and our team were thrilled to bring the vision to life.
Designing A Unique Site
The property’s steep slope and mature oak trees introduced exciting challenges, ones we embraced with care. Preserving the existing trees was a priority for the homeowners, and we wanted the design to celebrate, not disrupt, the natural landscape.
To achieve this, the pool house was constructed on stilts, allowing it to settle naturally into the grade without disturbing the trees. The pool’s exterior wall doubles as a retaining wall, supporting both the pool structure and surrounding plantings. Thoughtful attention to elevations ensured seamless movement between the existing deck, raised patio, and pool area.
Seamless Flow and Function
To support the clients’ goals, we incorporated a blend of decking and Techo-Bloc pavers to form smooth transitions and dedicated gathering areas. The result is a cohesive, comfortable layout designed for everyday enjoyment and effortless hosting.
A Standout Feature
The elevated pool house, nicknamed the “tree house” during construction, quickly became a favorite element of the project. Elevated above the ground, it feels tucked into the landscape, offering unique views of the pool and the surrounding oak canopy. It’s a distinctive feature that brings both charm and character to the space.
Collaboration That Elevated The Build
Given the complexity of the site and the custom nature of the pool house, we partnered with Deffenbaugh Homes for structural planning and construction. Their craftsmanship and creative approach aligned perfectly with the needs of the project, making them an ideal collaborator.
Materials Chosen with Purpose
Every detail was selected to complement the property’s woodsy setting while delivering modern performance and longevity. Key material choices include:
- Techo-Bloc Grande Slab Pavers for clean, comfortable walking surfaces
- 6×6 Treated Timbers for retaining walls that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape
- Mulch and carefully chosen plantings to soften the edges of the design
- Low-voltage lighting from SiteOne to illuminate the space and highlight key features after dark
These materials work together to create an inviting, durable, and naturally cohesive outdoor enviornment.

Ultimately, this project became far more than a backyard renovation, it evolved into an outdoor retreat shaped by the homeowners’ lifestyle and the beauty of their property. From the elevated pool house to the welcoming entertainment spaces, every element was designed to help them enjoy their outdoor living experience to the fullest.
